L4 – EXAMINING PICTURE DIMENSION

This is an individual task. But then you can ask questions from your group mates ONLY.
Task: Follow carefully the instructions below. At the end of this, you must have 2 different JPEG files and answers to the questions below.
Now pick a picture inside the ‘D:\Student G5′ folder in your computer OR take a picture from your camera. Make it as your ‘original picture’.
To do:
- Open your original picture (File > Open)
- Write down the file name of that picture
- Try to see the ‘real size’ of that picture by viewing it 100%. (Show your Navigator palette and change its value to 100%).
- Click Image > Image Size
- Write down the exact file size as what you can see beside the Pixel Dimension
- Write down the Width and Height values under Pixel Dimension. Make it sure you’re using ‘pixel’ as the unit.
- Write down the Width, Height, and Resolution values under the Dimension Size section. Be sure you’re using ‘inches’ and ‘pixels/inch’ as the units.
What you just did is you wrote down some of the file properties of the original file. Now, let’s modify the picture and write again its new properties.
8. With the Image Size dialog box still open, change the Width value (in the Pixel Dimension) to 400 pixels.
9. Write down the new values for the following:
- Picture file size (beside Pixel Dimension)
- Width and Height (use pixels as the unit) under Pixel Dimension
- Width, Height, and Resolution under Dimension Size (using inches as the unit)
10. Click OK
11. Save As the new file with this filename
G5 <your name> modified dimension
Example: “G5 Jess modified dimension”
